Avengers vs. Attack on Titan is REAL

aot.jpg-large-600x291Marvel Comics Senior VP, CB Cebulski, has announced that the Avengers will be fighting Attack on Titans‘ titular titans in a Japanese comic book later this month.

Cebulski described the genesis of this unexpected crossover via his Twitter feed, saying, “I loved Marvel Team-Up and What If? as a kid. I would spend hours dreaming up my own crossovers & alternate reality stories. As I got more into manga, I always imagined how cool it would be for the Marvel characters to cross into the pages of manga worlds. If you ever wondered, ‘What if the titans from Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan attacked the Marvel universe?’ you’ll find out soon!”

Coming Soon: Live-Action ‘Attack On Titan’

0A live-action adaptation of Attack on Titan is film currently in production in Japan, with a release scheduled for 2015. It is being directed by Shinji Higuchi, the special effects supervisor on the 90s Gamera reboot and a writer.storyboard artist on The End of Evangelion. The film was written by Yusuke Watanabe and Tomohiro Machiyama, with Hajime Isayama — the creator of Attack On Titan — acting as supervisor. For casting and shooting info, click here.

01If you’ve watched even the briefest bit of the amazing anime, Attack on Titan, you should already be scratching your head over this odd piece of tie-in merchandise. I mean, A COLOSSAL TITAN PLAYSET?! How creepy is that?

Making this “playset” all the weirder is the official sales pitch, which enthusiastically boasts the following bonus items: “The Titan that ate Carla…and one other secret titan are also included to help bring out the tense atmosphere. Miniature villagers and soldiers and even a broken wall are also included!”
